The Hardester's Shopping Center Grand Opening on Saturday, October 18th was very successful. A large crowd turned out for the event. For several hours entrance to and from the shopping center was cut off. Therefore, cars were forced to park along the side street. This, I believe, actually increased the turnout for the event. It made folks curious as to what was happening at the shopping center. Of course, it was easy to see there was an inflated Astro Jumps Playhouse for kids, someone was cooking hot dogs outside the grocery store, and there was musical entertainment as well as a growing crowd of folks walking into the shopping center.

I could be mistaken, but it looked to me like most of the folks who came to check the event out stayed the entire three hours. I doubt anyone wanted to miss out on the opportunity to win a 42" Vizio HDTV - the grand free raffle prize.

While I had hoped the Geek Squad from Best Buys in Santa Rosa would make the event, they had to bow out at the last minute. However, they are already interested in the harvest party this shopping center is planning for October of 2009. Since Google is only three hours away from Hidden Valley Lake, CA, I am hoping I can convince them to come next year and bring some of their Open Handset Alliance friends with them - like Nokia and Motorola. We just happen to have a new hotel being built in the area next to a casino. It would be absolutely marvelous to have both a harvest party and a special conference about this new Android technology the same weekend.

I received help in the promotion of this event from Ryzers across the United States. They sent me "Dear Editor" letters which helped to create some much-needed "buzz" with the local media. I am hoping to create an even better buzz next year with help from Ryzers around the world.

Which reminds me, I know October 2009 is a long way off, but if your business would like to find a way to be involved in this event to spread your business message, a "goodie bag" specialty advertising trinket is ideal. I will be stuffing "goodie bags" next year in vinyl should tote bags (just as I did this year). If you would like to advertise your business to Hidden Valley Lake, CA in that fashion, now is the time to send me a private message to that effect. Don't wait until the summer of 2009. By then, it will be too late. Such commitments need to be confirmed before the summer arrives.
